Trust us, this is one journey that’s guaranteed to add some serious spark to your crypto game!

Double Down on Fun: Crypto and Casinos, a Match Made in Cyberspace

First things first, let’s address the elephant in the chatroom: why are crypto and casinos suddenly being shipped like the internet’s favorite power couple? Well, when you think about it, it’s a no-brainer.

“Cryptocurrency and gambling are a perfect pair,” says digital currency analyst Tony ‘Two-Tokens’ Vega. “Both involve elements of risk, reward, and plenty of adrenaline. Plus, they both attract people who enjoy a good thrill.”

So, basically, it’s like discovering that your two favorite shows have a crossover episode. Double the drama, double the excitement, and—yep, you guessed it—double the potential payoff!

Tread Softly and Carry a Big Wallet: Navigating the Crypto Casino Terrain

Diving into the world of crypto casinos isn’t something you want to do without a little prep work. It’s like trying to hike the Grand Canyon in flip-flops. Sure, it might seem like a fun idea at first, but trust us, you’re going to wish you came better equipped.

“Crypto casinos can be a ton of fun, but you need to play it smart,” warns cybersecurity specialist Hannah Cipher. “Treat your digital wallets with the same caution as you would a physical one. Never share your keys, use strong passwords, and consider a hardware wallet.”

So, remember, gents: in the crypto casino world, a locked wallet is a happy wallet.

Now, let’s dig into one of the juicy perks of crypto casinos that has gamers worldwide buzzing like bees on a sugar rush: VAT-free deposits and withdrawals. Yes, my friends, you read that right.

“Cryptocurrencies exist in a unique legal space,” explains financial expert Lara ‘Ledger’ Ledgerwood. “This can offer advantages such as VAT-free transactions, but it’s always essential to stay updated on any changes in law.”

So, for now, we’re sailing in sweet, tax-free waters. But keep an eye on the horizon for any potential policy storms.

What are the 10 Common Mistakes Game Developers Make and How To Avoid Them

If you’re like most game developers, you want to make a good impression on customers and reviewers of your games. But often, inexperienced developers make common mistakes that can cause their games to suffer in reviews, sales, and future projects.

Serious game developers must learn how to make games that appeal to a mass audience. This can seem impossible, but if done correctly, it can be profitable. But what are the l mistakes novice game developers make that cause their games to suffer?

This blog post will show you the ten most common mistakes game developers make and how to avoid them.

1. Not Knowing Your Target Audience

The first mistake is not knowing your target audience. If you don’t know who you’re making the game for, likely, your game will not be successful.

  • Who is your game for?
  • What are their interests?
  • What are their favorite games?

You need to understand your target audience well before you can even begin to design a game they will enjoy.

2. Not Having a Unique Selling Point

The second mistake is not having a unique selling point. In today’s market, hundreds of thousands of games are available, so you must ensure that your game stands out from the crowd. What makes your game special?

If you don’t have a unique selling point, your game will likely get lost in the sea of other games.

3. Not Knowing Your Competitors

Not knowing who your competitors are is a recipe for disaster. If you don’t know what games are out there that are similar to yours, how can you possibly make a game that is better than theirs?

Competition is fierce in the games industry, so you need to know what your competitors are doing. Keep an eye on their games, marketing, features, etc.

4. Not Having a Marketing Plan

When your game is complete, the hard work doesn’t stop there. You need to have a plan for how you’re going to market your game. Marketing is vital to the success of any game, yet so many developers fail to do it effectively.

You need to figure out your target audience and where you can reach them. Then you need to create a plan for how you will get them. Different marketing channels are available, so you need to figure out which will work best for your game.

5. Relying on Luck

Relying on luck is not a strategy. Most developers think they can just release their game and hope for the best. You must be proactive and ensure that your game is visible to many people.

Don’t rely on luck to get your game noticed. Take the time to create a marketing plan and execute it. Otherwise, your game will likely disappear into the sea of other games with no one ever knowing it existed.

6. Not Asking for Help

If you’re unsure how to do something or feel overwhelmed, don’t be afraid to ask for help. Many resources are available to game developers, so take advantage of them. There are forums, chat rooms, IRC channels, mailing lists, etc.

7. Giving Up Too Soon

Giving up too soon is the biggest mistake that game developers make. Developing a successful game takes time, effort, and perseverance.

So many developers give up soon and never see their game through to completion. They get discouraged when things are going slow or get bored and move on to something else. But the only way to succeed in this industry is to see your game through to the end.

8. Not Learning from Your Mistakes

Mistakes are inevitable. No one is perfect, and everyone makes mistakes. The key is to learn from your mistakes and not repeat them in the future.

When you make a mistake, take the time to figure out what went wrong and how you can prevent it from happening again. You’ll be one step closer to success if you can learn from your mistakes.

9. Not Keeping Your Game Updated

You must keep your game updated with new content and features to keep players coming back. If you don’t, they’ll quickly get bored and move on to something else.

Think of your game as a living, breathing entity that needs to be constantly cared for. The better you care for it, the longer it will stay alive.

10. Not listening to Feedback

Feedback is essential to the success of any game. Without feedback, you cannot know what players like and don’t like about your game. You need to constantly listen to feedback and use it to improve your game.

The best way to get feedback is to put your game out there and let people play it. But you also need to be actively soliciting feedback from players. Don’t be afraid to ask for honest feedback, even negative.

Don’t Make These Mistakes if You Want To Have a Good Game

These are just a few of game developers’ most common mistakes. Avoiding these mistakes will enable you to prosper.

8 Ways Game Developers Can Help The Games Industry Grow

World-wide, the video game industry is one of the fastest-growing industries. There is a huge demand for skilled game developers. This creates a never-ending cycle where companies are constantly looking for new talent.

There are many examples of things that game developers could do to help the industry grow and keep it at the top. So if you have a passion for creating games, you have much to gain from this blog post.

It explores several trends within the industry that will help you prosper no matter what kind of game you are working on.

1. Mobile Games

The first way to help the games industry grow is by developing mobile games. This is a huge market with potential. There are already some big players in the space, but there are still many opportunities for new developers to get involved.

Mobile gaming will allow gamers to access casinos not blocked by Gamstop and other similar platforms. This is because most mobile casinos have licenses from UK Gambling Commission, which has different regulations than Gamstop.

2. Make Game Design Easy to Use

Game design is a complex process. One way to help the industry grow is to make game design easier. There are several approaches to this. One is to create better tools. Another is to create more tutorials and guides.

The important thing is that game developers need to make the design process easier for new developers. It will help them get started and eventually create their games.

3. Free-to-Play Games

Free-to-play games are another way that game developers can help the industry grow. It is among the successful models, and new developers have many opportunities to get involved.

They are easy to get into and usually have low barriers to entry. This makes them perfect for new developers looking to get into the industry’s door.

4. Take a Chance on New Characters

The characters in video games have evolved over the years. In the early days, most of them were white male protagonists. However, there is still room for improvement. There are not enough female protagonists and people of color in leading roles. Game developers need to take a chance and create more diverse characters. It would be good for the industry and society as a whole.

5. Make Games That Are Accessible to Everyone

Many people would love to play video games but cannot because they have a disability. This is something that needs to change. Game developers need to create more games that are accessible to everyone.

They should create games that players can play with one hand. Another is to add audio descriptions for people who are blind or have low vision. There are many other possibilities. The important thing is that game developers need to start thinking about accessibility.

6. Support Indie Developers

Indie developers are the lifeblood of the industry. They are constantly creating new and innovative games. However, they often struggle to get noticed.

One way to help the industry is to support indie developers. Buying their games is one of the options. Another is to promote their games.

The important thing is that game developers need to support indie developers. They are the ones who are constantly pushing the industry forward.

7. Create More Educational Games

Many people want to learn about game development but do not know where to start. This is something that game developers can help with.

One way to do it is to create more educational games. These games can teach people about different aspects of game development. For example, there could be a game that teaches people how to code. Or a game that teaches people about the different types of art used in games.

The important thing is that game developers need to create more educational games. This will help people learn about the industry and eventually become game developers.

8. Think About the Environment

Most developers overlook the environment in video games. Most are in fictional worlds with no regard for the real world. But a growing number of gamers want to see more games set in the real world. And not just games set in realistic environments, but also environmentally friendly games.

This is something that game developers need to start thinking about. There are so many ways to make a game environmentally friendly. For example, you could use recycled materials for the game’s packaging. Or you could design the game in a way that uses less energy.

Time to Make the Industry Grow!

The game industry is always changing. And game developers need to change with it. They need to create more diverse characters, make games accessible to everyone, think about the environment, and support indie developers. But most importantly, they need to make game design easy to use. This will help people learn about the industry and eventually become game developers.

How VR In Gaming Has Pushed Other Industries Forward

Since the first time the term Virtual Reality Technology was introduced not as a bare concept, but as something actually invented, it has been winning huge gaming markets, and the market size seems to continue growing. Despite all the doubts, virtual reality, which at first seemed a bit fantastic, has become the next breakthrough in the world of technology, and caused fast and powerful development in other neighboring niches. Video gaming was the very first niche in which VR became available for an average person for personal use.

The reason why VR first won the hearts of gamers is because VR is all about immersive simulation of a three-dimensional environment. Gaming became the first sphere to use VR practically, test it out, and improve based on user experience and feedback. The gaming industry has benefited from this technology immediately, and the associated businesses have already made huge money. However, VR continues to transform the gaming industry, and what is even more important, the gaming industry experience enables other industries to find applications to VR, too.

Why VR Is the Future of Many Industries

VR makes video gaming even more versatile than before. There are individual and multi-player games; direct physical combat environments, racing (including different vehicles), acrobatic flying/tricks, exploration and adventure games, and challenging games where the players have to solve problems, move objects, and otherwise interact with the environment. Besides offering lots of new ideas and types of interaction, VR games have the following benefits:

  • absolutely beautiful and appealing virtual objects
  • real time gaming, especially if the game is shared with other players
  • enriched gaming environment
  • reality gets digitally extended, anywhere, anytime
  • the gaming reality looks way more appealing and believable
  • increases the users’ engagement

These advantages provided by VR technology to entertainment are not limited to video games only, but stretch to other types of entertainment, like movies, online casino games, etc. For example, with VR technology quality casinos in Canada offer full-immersive visit to the casino house, with the players being able to walk around and see the rooms in detail; realistic slot machines and table games; the ability to interact with other gamblers in the same casino by displaying gestures; real casino sounds; in-game chats.

As one can see, VR technology revolutionizes every type of entertainment it is applied to, and by doing so, it attracts more users to this or that entertainment. Those users who have already tried out services with VR included are unlikely to degrade back to simpler options, if they have a choice. As a result, businesses are pushed to develop and use VR, to boost their customers’ interest and demand.

The benefits offered by VR to businesses are huge, including, but not limited to:

  • new possibilities and experiences to attract new customers, and to reduce the fear of new technologies in the reluctant potential customers, which leads to more sales
  • making the customers loyal to the brand by giving them demo versions and test-drives of an excellent product
  • new marketing tools to attract customers from previously unlikely sources – because everyone likes a good cartoon!

Businesses in different industries can already benefit from the technology, and the necessity, or ability, to utilize VR for their purposes makes businesses and whole industries adapt and evolve. This makes VR a lever for industries’ development in the near future.

The Pandemic & Shift in Priorities

Even before the pandemic caused by Covid-19, the VR technology had a bright future, being in demand by the game providers and associated companies. Sony, Google, Oculus, and other leaders of the niche worked on improving the VR headsets and making them more mobile. Developers were working on providing recreation of all 5 basic feelings during the games, paving the way to increasing the VR content. In the next few years, VR game products had to decrease in price.

However, the pandemic has amended these plans, and while VR gaming became even more in demand due to the boredom of lockdowns, the focus has shifted to industries more mundane. Due to massive transition to distant employment (when possible), and the need for distance education, VR started to be seen as a tool necessary for solving everyday problems, and needed faster than in a few years. Due to this shift in priorities, we are likely to see VR technologies in other spheres, pretty fast.

Education and Healthcare

The first two niches where VR is needed and will most likely be seen in the next few years are education and healthcare.

With healthcare, the utilization of VR was obvious from the very beginning; both learning and medical services will benefit from this advanced technology, allowing to improve healthcare.

Education, on the other hand, has seemed to drag behind, but the pandemic has shown that distance education will stay with us for a long time, and therefore this sphere will start developing quickly. Virtual Reality is only one of many technologies that will need to be utilized for distance education.

On the one hand, school and college education is likely to see a change in approach, because VR and other digital tools will allow the teachers and students more flexibility, and therefore, more efficiency.

On the other hand, education is not limited to school and college, at least, not anymore. Most companies, especially leaders in their niches, educate their employees on a regular basis, create courses and lectures, and VR is one of the tools that can be utilized for increased engagement, and increased efficiency. Digital tools allow us to create endless possibilities for educators and students.

Final Thoughts

VR still has a long way to go before it becomes a technology widely used for everyday needs in many industries. However, using VR for gaming allows this technology to evolve, while the developers can experiment and make it more available and affordable for other industries. Eventually, VR can become revolutionary for other niches, the same way it has revolutionized video gaming.

How To Prevent Gaming Addiction In A Teenager

Today, online entertainments take an impressively huge part of our lives – especially in 2020, when the offline events and entertainments have been considerably limited. Being unable to relax and socialize in a usual manner, most people start seeking online entertainment, and this is also true for children and teenagers.

Teenagers are especially fond of various kinds of video games, both online and on various gaming gadgets. And while video games may not be the worst option for pastime, the parents should be particularly attentive to the gaming behaviors, habits, and patterns their child shows. The point is, video gaming can cause gaming addiction and lead to compulsive behavior, and nowadays, when exposure to video games is especially high, more children can display addictive behavior.

What Is Gaming Addiction

As any other addiction, gaming addiction is not caused by higher than average exposure to the games on its own. One will not develop a gaming addiction only because they play games more often, or for longer periods than other children. However, children who play more than others, on average, are more likely to already have a gaming addiction.

In contrast to substance abuse, gaming addiction is mental addiction, but the substance is still involved, although nothing is actually consumed. The point is, the person gets addicted to the euphoria, rush, and excitement they feel when they play, and these emotions, in their turn, are caused by a mix of hormones produced by the player’s brain. This way, a gamer gets addicted to the hormones produced by their own brain, when the brain is triggered by a video game.

As a rule, this is not one particular game, although separate people can react more to certain categories of games. Also, if the person is predisposed to developing a gaming addiction, they can develop it literally from the first few tries, and the gaming experience does not matter much; again, longer playing does not cause addiction, but addiction causes longer playing.

Main Causes

Longer playing and increased exposure to games are not direct causes of addiction, but what is? There are three main groups of direct causes, and if your kid likes video games, you should keep these causes in mind.

The first cause is biological. Most people are predisposed to some kind of addiction, be it substance abuse, binge eating, or gaming addiction. Different brains are triggered by different factors, and scientists even believe that biological predisposition to addictions can be genetically inherited one. Biologically caused addictions are extremely powerful, hard to prevent, not easy to take control of, and take considerable time and efforts to manage.

The second cause is psychological, and such addictions are based on behaviours caused by erroneous beliefs. For example, if a teenager has no friends at school, but they manage to find common grounds with fellow players online, they will continue to play video games, because they will believe they have friends there. Psychologically caused addictions are easier to manage and prevent.

The third cause is environmental. On the one hand, the person’s environment may be so boring, or so hostile, that video games (or other addictive behavior) can be the only mental escape possible. Or, if the person’s close social circle plays video games, the person will also continue playing, in order to be accepted to the circle.

Symptoms

Symptoms of compulsive gaming can differ, but there are still some general signs that close family can notice in a gaming teenager:

  • the child often talks about their games
  • they have few other hobbies and activities except video games
  • the child tries to escape into gaming when they are sad, angry, or bored
  • the child becomes anxious or aggressive when they cannot play games as usual
  • playing becomes a priority among other daily activities; the child forgets to do things because they are playing
  • the child is reluctant to reveal details of their playing
  • the child starts seeking financial help to provide their playing

The symptoms are at the same time negative consequences. The teenagers can become depressed or aggressive, quit school or hobbies, etc. This is why parents should pay double attention to their kids’ gaming behaviors, and make sure that the children are socialized, take care of their health, and have entertainment besides gaming.

Video Game Loot Boxes Are Gamble

According to recent research, many video games include the elements of gambling. Firstly, some video games include casino houses in their plot, and many gamers actually spend lots of time at these in-game casinos playing slots or table games. Secondly, many video games feature so-called loot boxes players can buy. The concept behind the loot box is that the player buys one without knowing what’s inside. Sometimes, one can get something really valuable for the game, but more often, the items in the box are not really useful.

Some fans argue that, since items in the loot boxes are not cash, and have no real monetary value, buying loot boxes cannot qualify as gambling. However, as the experts rightfully point out, these boxes are purchased for real money, and not the game currency earned within the plot, plus the player has no clue what they buy, hoping to get something nice. This is gambling, and therefore it should be treated as gambling – but it is not.

Legislation Issues

Video games, on the other hand, only mark their products as 12+, 16+, etc., but enforce no real mechanism for protection of minors from real money gambling – let alone from gambling or gaming addiction. For example, minors are not restricted from playing at an in-game casino house in GTA, because this is a video game, not a casino platform. Also, video games feature no Responsible Gaming policies, and no self-restriction tools – again, in contrast to online casino sites. This way, video games can be considered far less regulated, and therefore posing lots of risks for unprotected teenagers.

Final Thoughts

While gaming and gambling addiction are no fun, and parents may feel an urgent need to ban all gaming altogether, such measures are rarely successful. Instead, parents should pay time and attention to their teenagers, and make sure they provide a friendly environment.

Recipe for the Perfect Combat Pass. An analyst’s perspective.

Many developers use the mechanics of seasonal updates. It’s often referred to as a combat pass. Nowadays you can even find it in farms, sitibliders, and casual projects. In this talk I will share my perspective on how developers came up with the idea that seasonal updates are cool. Also, based on my experience I will share small nuances of how to properly organize the mechanics of battlespace in a freetoplay pk game. Although, this experience can be transferred to any other game.

Blizzard CEO resigns after harassment scandal

Blizzard has had an ongoing scandal involving allegations of discrimination and harassment against women for weeks. Two executives, including a woman, Jen O’Neill of Vicarious Visions, are stepping in to replace the head of the company

Blizzard president Jay Allen Brack is leaving the company after two years on the team of one of the biggest computer game developers. He’ll be replaced by Jen O’Neill, who previously led Vicarious Visions, and Mike Ibarra, a former Xbox vice president, according to the company’s press office.

O’Neill and Ybarra will co-lead the company. “They are both deeply committed to protecting all of our employees and to the work ahead to ensure that Blizzard is a safe and welcoming workplace for women and people of any gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation or background. They will uphold and reinforce our values and restore your trust,” the statement said.

The management change comes amid a scandal involving allegations of sexual harassment occurring within Blizzard. A lawsuit against the company in late July, the authorities in California, it indicated that it was based on numerous complaints from former and current employees. Soon after, according to PC Gamer, more than 3,000 employees of Activision Blizzard signed an open letter to the management, which spoke in defense of the victims of harassment and called for “official statements, which will recognize the seriousness of the allegations and which will show compassion for the victims of harassment.”

On July 28, a protest was held outside the company’s California office, where several hundred people came out with placards and slogans about the unacceptability of gender discrimination.

Employees claimed that women starting out at Blizzard were paid less than their male counterparts, faced difficulties in advancing their careers, long work hours, and inappropriate behavior from male colleagues.

Blizzard was founded in 1991 and merged with another developer, Activision, in 2008. The studio is known for developing a number of iconic games, including the Warcraft series, Starcraft and Diablo, Blizzard’s last major project being the multiplayer game Overwatch.

Design Analysis in Game Development

It is hard to imagine the game industry without a modern set of product metrics, analyzing user behavior. A similar approach can be applied to the game development process – to collect data on the rate of production of content units, labor productivity, the difference between planned and actual costs. Propose to discuss the basic concepts of project analysis and their applicability to game development.
